| I have often thought about my attitude during this time of year as being somewhat of a Christmas cynic or curmudgeon. I do not understand the frantic behavior of trying to find the perfect gift for someone, or the idea of spending money on things that seem to have no intrinsic value to me. Yet, despite my many years of trepidations about the current values revolving around this cultural concept of extravagance, I discovered my own personal value within the pomp and pageantry of our materialistic world.
It is within this personal dilemma, that I find the rays of joy, hope, love and simple blessings of the season. So with that in mind, I thought it worthy to note that I may have established a new PR, (Personal Record), for myself. I am in fact so giddy that I initially thought that I may have broken a “land speed” record! What is this accomplishment? I completed the list of cards to send out with holiday greetings with more than a week to spare! Over the years because I have battled cynicism, procrastination and ADHD, my list has grown short and easily manageable by others’ standards. But nonetheless, I finished this list in record time.
As I reflect about my mailings, I wonder about those that are not on this modified list; if you are not on it, I want you to know that I think of you often and that you have a place in my heart that will remain with me always. In addition, I do truly hope that you experience an abundance of joy, blessings, and love this holiday season and all the years henceforth. In all sincerity; I wish all of you who happen to read this little narrative a blessed and joyous holiday season. Whether you celebrate holidays for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Historical, Humanism, Judaism, Muslim, Paganism, Secular, Unitarian Universalism, Wiccan, and so forth, it does not matter to me: As a member of this existence we call life, I hope this finds you well and filled with many blessings. And as they say in the “Merry old Land of Oz” I wish you many days filled with “Ha – ha – ha, Ho – ho – ho – And a couple of tra – la – las.” I hope you have a delightful experience today and every day henceforth.
