| This narrative is not intended incite, but rather to provide insight, consideration and acknowledgement that perhaps systems of government are always in need of maintenance and repair. I have had this on my mind and feel compelled to share my point of view about the state of affairs called politics. It seems evident to me that we no longer have politicians that are somehow affiliated with a political party, be it Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Independent, etc. Instead our governments have spawned kleptocrats.
Until there is a true spirit of public service for the benefit of all citizens, we shall always be plagued with interregnum and the ossified stubbornness of people who are imbued with limited personal, and ignorant rationalizations. We need representatives who reject the brokering of power, the inflicting of oppressive edicts, and who are not victims of subjugation by corporate terror. We need an infusion of compassion, decorum, and policies based on common sense, common good and scientific evidence. Our government discourse will continue to be mired in the juvenile antics of loathsome, insecure, (mostly white male), oligarchs, until we have government officials who can see beyond their wallets, beyond a “zero sum” attitude, and beyond their fragile egos. We must instill the concept that great service is achieved by giving one’s time unconditionally. Greatness and respect cannot be bought, nor can it be foisted upon a knowledgeable citizen who understands and lives the struggles within the stratum of the working class citizens. Be wary of a nattily dressed person of spurious origin who claims without evidence, of having lived the life of a common citizen, and that he/she understands your plight. The masses of common citizens must establish solidarity and dismiss the kleptocrats and insist on service oriented individuals who strive to address the needs of our all-encompassing environment. We must demand that the basic requirement of a representative is to respect others and our natural resources so that we can establish a legacy that our children can cherish and appreciate. The exploitation of our citizens and our natural resources must stop immediately. I personally have been told to “grow up”, stop being a clown, and to take situations seriously, which is a substantial challenge for my ADHD influenced mind. So from a position of empathy and understanding as a dysfunctional member of this dystopian society, I invite all those that have the serendipitous occasion of reading this narrative to practice one of my favorite biblical golden rules; “do onto others as you would have them do to you.” And don’t forget to vote with compassion and knowledge and to look beyond your wallet and personal perceptions. I end with a quote by Albert Schweitzer; “You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it’s a little thing, do something for others-something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.” I hope you have a delightful experience today and every day henceforth.
