Judging of one’s content

Most citizens of the United States of America know about Martin Luther King Jr. and the speech he gave on August 28, 1963 titled “I HAVE A DREAM…”

Within that speech he spoke about how he hoped that his children would be judged “…by the content of their character.”  This particular statement has always remained prevalent in my personal consciousness and has guided me as I have interacted with people throughout my entire life.  I have always endeavored to find and understand the content of a person’s character.

It recently occurred to me that many politicians are unable to employ the compelling doctrine that Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed.  In understanding his speech and the readings of many spiritual leaders, I too have dreamed of a world with tolerance, brother/sisterhood, equality, sensitivity, consensus, justice, compromise, etc.  I have long held the hope that there would be a genuine working model to accomplish the tasks of community goodwill and a working government for the good of all the people.

Now more than ever it is sadly evident to me that politicians and many of our citizens judge and act according the “CONTENT of their and others’ WALLETS”.

I hope you have a delightful experience today and every day henceforth.

What is there to say about me? I am not sure if I am typical or not, average or not, smart or not, BUT I think I definitely have a sense of humor. I am an aging baby boomer wondering if I have something to say about the world as I see it.
